Tyrell Preview

Continuing their series of previews for the forthcoming Storm of Swords expansion for the A Game of Thrones board game, Fantasy Flight Games has posted a new preview of the Tyrell house cards.

Board Fundraiser

It’s that time again: fundraising time.

Last year, shortly after we moved to this site, we quickly raised $355 to cover 6 months of hosting on our fabulous server. Now the server is even more fabulous (with a bit of a security upgrade, thanks to the NSA wink.gif and we figure another $350 or so for the next six months would be a great way to support the site and help our very cool host cover some of her costs in providing this service (thanks, Sparks!).

Official Site Update

GRRM’s official site has an updated “From My Readers” section featuring an interesting license plate, as well as updates to the “Appearances” section indicating that he’ll be attending this years Comic-Con in San Diego, and “Links” section. Finally, he has made a new entry to his “Not a Blog”, discussing the renovations of his house and his progress on A Dance with Dragons (including some slightly spoilerific information).

Power and Baratheon Preview

Continuing their series of previews for the forthcoming Storm of Swords expansion for the A Game of Thrones board game, Fantasy Flight Games has posted a new preview of the Baratheon house cards and a discussion of the Power system in the game.

Board Down

Due to unforseen circumstances, the board and IRC chat will be down for an indefinite period while it’s given a clean reinstall. We hope the downtime will be brief, although the timing with this weekend (busy for the both of us) is not ideal. We’ll do our best to get the board up swiftly, with the help of our siteadmin.

Feast for Crows Locus Finalist

A Feast for Crows is one of the five finalists in this year’s Locus Awards. The winner has already been determined as the finalist who received the most votes from readers, but will not be announced until June.

Storm of Swords Preview

Fantasy Flight Games has posted a preview of the upcoming A Storm of Swords expansion to their popular A Game of Thrones board game. It features examples of leader and house cards for the expansion.

Subterranean Press News

Subterranean Press, publishers for the limited editions of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, have sent out the following information in their latest newsletter, which includes a terrific example of Tom Canty’s chapter headers for A Feast for Crows:

Painted Miniature Sneak Peek

Over at Tom Meier’s website, Thunderbolt Mountain, a gallery of user-contributed pictures of Tom’s models that they’ve had painted. The latest addition comes straight from GRRM, who sends a lovely picture of a mounted ranger of the Night’s Watch (an early casting for the forthcoming Andy Chambers-designed wargame from Testors). The paint job was commissioned from Dave Gulczynski of WarPaint Studios, who did an excellent job.

GRRM’s official site has been updated with the announcement in “News” of Tuf Voyaging being nominated for Best Translated Novel in Japan’s Seiun Awards, the addition of Germany and Taiwanese covers for A Storm of Swords in “Covers”, and an addition to the “Kits & Castings” section of “Knights”.
